Insomnia Symptoms | Insomnia is a disease that occurs due to a sleep disorder in which the sufferer will experience the effects of insomnia. What causes insomnia?


There are many things that can cause insomnia. Insomnia can caused by:
  1. Stress. Stress can be caused by worrying about something. For example, nervous to face a situation or too tired to work.
  2. Depression. Excessive anxiety, fear of failure, and other emotional problems.
  3. Bad sleep habits. Bad sleep habits caused by watching TV or computer until late.
  4. Changes sleep habits. Changes in sleeping habits are usually caused by changes in circumstances during sleep, for example, lights, sleeping in a new place, or noisy sound.
  5. The health problems. Health problems happen because headache, joint pain, fatigue and other health problems that may disrupt sleep.
  6. Caffeine and medicine.


What are the insomnia symptoms?


Insomnia symptoms are different for each person. The following are common insomnia symptoms experienced by patients with insomnia:
  1. Hard to sleep. It's hard to sleep in a long time, such as one hour or more, or difficulty falling asleep even when you’re already feel tired and sleepy.
  2. Wake up in the middle of the night and having trouble going back to sleep.
  3. Waking up too early.
  4. Feeling tired when wake up as if lack of sleep.
  5. Feeling upset, drowsiness, or anxious


How to treat insomnia?


Healing insomnia is more effective when the cause of insomnia known first. There are 12 rules of healthy sleep (according to WHO):
  1. Lying in bed when really wanted to sleep. But try at the same time when going to sleep.
  2. Do not use the bed for activities other than to sleep. Other activities such as reading, watching TV, eating, telephone.
  3. Set an alarm to wake up at the same time.
  4. Do not drink alcohol at all. Alcohol can make restless sleep.
  5. Do not consume coffee or drinks that contain caffeine or medications a few hours before bedtime. Because caffeine is a stimulant, it can increase the heart rate so that the body can be maintained throughout the night.
  6. Do not smoke a few hours before bedtime. Cigarettes contain nicotine which can improve the strength.
  7. Exercise in the afternoon (6 hours before bedtime). Stretching exercises or walking for 20 minutes. This will increase your metabolism and body temperature.
  8. Take time to transition to sleep with reduce the level of activity before sleeping, remove the anxiety will work unfinished, tomorrow and other thoughts. Doing the activity with calm and relaxed.
  9. Clean up before bed, make sure the door was locked, and adjust lighting, in order to feel safe and comfortable while sleeping.
  10. Ensure that there are no bright light or noise that can disrupt sleep and make sure the room temperature comfortable.
  11. The state of hunger or after eating a lot can inhibit sleep. However if you feel hungry you should eat small meals or drink a glass of warm milk .
